Washington Nationals have the largest comeback in team history lead by Trea Turner.

On Thursday, the Washington Nationals found themselves below .500 and in third place of the NL East. Expectations for the Nationals before the season were World Series or bust. Before the game on Friday however, the team is just looking to survive until the All-Star break in a couple of weeks.

Losing eight of nine, Bryce Harper and company slide below .500 for the first time this season and in a tight spot in the division race. The problem has been the offense not being able to score runs consistently and hitting with runners in scoring position. Another big problem is their superstar Bryce Harper has gone cold since his hot start in April.

After there shutout loss to the Red Sox to secure the sweep, the players called a players-only meeting in the bowels of Nationals Park. Player only meetings are not what you want to hear if you are a fan of a team, especially one with such high expectations. Team meetings hopefully can give a team the kick in the pants they need to get back on track.

A lot of things have not gone the Nationals way this season. From injuries to star players to underperformance from other stars, this team is starting to feel the pressure. There has always been a sense of underperformance in the Nations Capital. Washington has never been able to get that monkey off their back and make it to the World Series. Having had several sparkling regular seasons, it is no wonder the panic button has been pressed in early July.

After all that, the next day they find themselves down 9-0 to the worst team in the league. Right when everyone thought all hope was lost, some of the young guys pulled through. Trea Turner had two home runs and 8 RBI to lead the comeback. All the way back from 9-0 to win 14-12, marks the largest comeback in the history of the Nationals. Who knows, maybe this marks their big second half push for the playoffs!
